The second round of this gala series was held at Keynsham Leisure Centre on Saturday 16th May. It was a very exciting event which was extremely close right up to the end. The result was decided on the last event – the canon relay - we were leading by one point going into it and we started off fast and kept the lead throughout to win by 3 seconds and win the gala. We achieved 21 PB’s on the night with Hannah Stevens gaining a 3sec PB in her 50 breast. Special mention to Robbie McLeod who came in at the last minute to replace an injured Zak Elliott and Emily Porter who stepped in to do the 50 fly. Thank you to Hilary, Alan, Richard, Jess, Louise and Curtis who helped make the gala possible. Provisional Result: Bristol Henleaze 140 points Frome 137 points Bristol Central 117 points Wells & Shepton Mallett 62 points
Well done to all the swimmers who made this a really exciting gala.

Congratulations to all swimmers who took part in the Cotswold series of galas this year, and a big thank you to all of our parent helpers and swimmers who helped with the teams, judging, timekeeping etc. For the first time, the club had been unable to field any swimmers who took part in the National League in 2008 (due to our promotion to Div 1). With such restrictions, it was a remarkable achievement to gain a place in the “B” final. We finished 5th in the final, which should give us 13th place out of 20 teams in the 2009 series. In Saturday’s gala there were some very impressive and heroic swims, with many swimmers competing against much older opposition. Special mentions go to Jake Walker and Joe Rappoport who got valuable points in the Open age group. The following swimmers all got PB’s: Jack West (3s in 100IM), Richard Battersby (3s in 100 fly), Zak Elliott (x2), Max Pickup, Emily Harris, Joe Rappoport, Jorji Longdon, Anna Hubble, Barnaby Taylor, Jake Walker (x2), Hannah Stevens and Philippa Gamblin.
