As the exam season is upon us, some of you may have notice that the gym at Clifton High is now being used for exams and is no longer available for land training.

For the foreseeable future Land training will be from 7.30 and will be based around poolside warm up drills and potentially some reaction drills in whatever space we can find. Meet as usual at the pool

There will be no land training on Sundays until the gym is back to normal.

How do I buy a Bristol Henleaze hat? Print
Written by BHSC
Friday, 10 May 2013

All swimmers in  juniors and above should be wearing a Bristol Henleaze hat. Hats without the swimmer's name on are always available and do not have to be ordered - please ask your teacher.

Personalised hats are available to order, but we have to wait for 25 orders before sending the request to the supplier. The supplier then takes a further 6 weeks to print and deliver the hats.

Please see Hilary to place orders for named kit.

It has come to our attention that one of our swimmers is likely to have Mumps. This is not able to be confirmed as yet but is probable. After taking advice from the ASA Medical Officer this post is to make you aware that should your child present with symptoms that could be Mumps please do not bring them to swimming as the disease is highly infectious. Most children are vaccinated against Mumps within the MMR vaccination however, some children will not have had this vaccination for various reasons. If you are unsure of the symptoms of Mumps there is a link here that may help> http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Mumps/Pages

Cotswold C Final - Report Print
Written by Richard Edwards
Thursday, 09 May 2013

This gala was the held at Keynsham Leisure Centre and was the C Final.  In the Series there are 20 clubs from the Gloucester and Somerset area. These galas are the designed to give good club swimmers and inexperienced swimmers the chance of taking part in competition galas. At the end of first 4 rounds of the Series the total number of gala points gained by each club is calculated. The 5th round of the Series consists of three finals. The top 8 clubs swim in the A Final, the middle 6 clubs in the B Final and the bottom 6 clubs in the C Final. Bristol Henleaze swam 46 different swimmers over this series of galas.

The rules of this series of gala meant we could not select any of our 45 swimmers that had swum in the Division 1 National Arena galas in the last 2 years. A lot of the 20 clubs in the Cotswold league we swum against don’t have such exclusions when selecting Cotswold teams.

In the gala our team had 21 PB's from individual swims, 9 first places and 11 second places.

There were individual wins for Eloise Molyneux-Gibbs, Lucinda Larnach, Emily Gale, Will Darby, Max Faria and Grace Caple.

There was a relay wins for 3 of our teams:-

The Girls 11/U 4X1 Medley Relay Team Grace Caple, Saskia Maestri,

 Eloise Molyneux-Gibbs, Catherine Brooke.

The Boys 11/U 4X1 Medley Relay Team Oliver Baker, Joe Holliday, Max Faria and Matthew Youngman

The Boys 11/U 4X1 Freestyle Team Max Faria, Oliver Baker, Matthew Youngman and

Joe Holliday

There were individual second places for Lara Coode (2) , Will Darby, Oliver Baker (2), Grace Caple (2), Eloise Molyneux-Gibbs, Lincinda Larnach and Ben Whitaker.

There was a relay second place for The Girls 11/U 4X1 Freestyle Relay Team

Eloise Molyneux-Gibbs, Catherine Brooke, Lola Worthington and Grace Caple.

The Draft  results for the six  teams in this gala were

Cinderford                         240 Points

Lydney                              218 Points

Bristol Henleaze                209 Points

Bristol North                      191 Points

Bristol Penguins                  68 Points

Severnside Tritons             DNS

I would like to say a big Thank-you to all those 46 swimmers that swam in this series of galas, officials, parents and poolside helpers.
