We had a fantastic weekend at Hutton Moor. It was great to see our youngest swimmers on the podium at their first championships. Jorji Longdon (9 yrs) swam an excellent 200 IM to win Gold in an age group best time. She also took Silver in the 50 back and Maddy Cheesley gained a finalist medal for her 8th place in the same event. Barnaby Taylor (9 yrs) did a fine swim in the 50 back for a Silver medal. Abi Bowring, despite carrying an injury, positively starred in the 11 yrs age group picking up five Golds an age group best time in the 200 IM and best of all she achieved a National Qualifying time in the 100 back. In the 12 yrs age group Jess Hicks, another of our walking wounded, gained an excellent Bronze in the 100 free with which she was delighted. In the 14 yrs age group Oliver Eyre had great swims in the freestyle events. He won age group Gold in the 400 free and then had an excellent 5th place in the championship final and was County Junior Champion. He also won age group Gold in the 100 free and was again County Junior Champion. He then added Silver in the 200 IM and Bronze in the 50 fly. Jane Garry gained Bronze in the girls 100 breaststroke, good to see her getting back to her best. In the 16 yrs age group our ‘ladies’ Rebecca Guy, Rebecca Allen and Millie Marshall cleaned up winning 14 out of a possible 18 age group medals. Rebecca Guy, despite having a cold, won four Golds and a Silver, was County Senior Champion in the 400 free and won Silvers in the 100 free and 200 IM championship finals. Rebecca Allen is going from strength to strength and picked up 1 Gold, 3 Silvers and 2 Bronze. Millie Marshall won Gold, Silver and Bronze and won an excellent Bronze in the 200 breaststroke championship final. Our golden trio had two 1/2/3 finishes. In the 17/Over age group Harriet Mustard won a Bronze in the women’s 50 fly. In all our swimmers had 63 PB’s, 25 club records and a total medal haul of 14 Golds, 7 Silvers and 7 Bronzes. It was a great team performance; many congratulations to all who qualified and took part. The results have been added to the BHSC database and full results are available on the gcasa web site. |
