Cotswold Series 2019 R4 report

Cotswold Series 2019  Round 4  March 30th 2019

Written by Richard Edwards

Thursday, 4th April 2019

This gala was the held at Kings College Pool,Taunton, and was the fouth of the Series of 5 galas, the final gala to be held on Saturday 27 April. In the Series there are 20 clubs mainly from the Gloucester and Somerset area. These galas are the designed to give good club swimmers and inexperienced swimmers the chance of taking part in competition galas. At the end of first 4 rounds of the Series the total number of gala points gained by each club is calculated. The 5th round of the Series consists of three finals. The top 8 clubs swim in the A Final, the middle 6 clubs in the B Final and the bottom 6 clubs in the C Final. The teams we were against for this gala were Dursley, Taunton and Weston .Weston was hosting this gala. For the fifth year in the history of the Cotswold Series the only restrictions on who can swim were time limits. These time limits were placed on the swimmers in all the individual and relay team races. If swimmers go faster than the time limits set for that race they would score no points for their club.

In the gala our team had 9 PBs from individual swims.  We had 14 first places,11 in individual events and 3 in the relays. We had 11 second places, 6 in individual events and 5 in relays.  This was a good performance again for our swimmers as many had to swim up in older age groups. Also there many very close finishes and only two of our team’s swims were just the wrong side of the set time limits.

The Draft  results for the four  teams in this gala were

Weston                            159 Points

Taunton                           149 Points

BHSC                              122 Points

Dursley                              80  Points

We now move on to the Final in the series on Saturday 27th April at Hutton Moor where we will swim in the B Final.
