2014 Club Championships

BHSC Club Championships is an annual event, this year taking place from September to November. With the exception of the 1500m free and 400IM, the events swum are the same as for the Gloucester County Championships which take place from January to March 2015. Gloucester County use qualification times so it is very important for all swimmers to enter the club championships to gain these times. It is also an opportunity to gain individual times to help with gala selection (we need 50m times for all strokes).

Swimmers in JD2, AG2+ and YS2+ are expected to enter all events appropriate to their age. JD1, AG1 and YS1 are expected to enter all of the 50m events and the 100IM and may also enter other events. Swim school swimmers can enter the 50m events and 100IM, but please ask your teacher if they think this is appropriate. Please note that to stand a chance of being an age group winner, you will need to enter lots of events. It is not always possible to accommodate late entries, so it is better to enter an event if you think that you may want to.

There is no limit to the number of events that can be entered and each race will cost £4 with a maximum of £35 for 9 or more events (cheques made payable to Bristol Henleaze Swimming Club please). We cannot accept online payment by bank transfer. Entries without payment will not be accepted.

All events are swum on age as at 31st December 2014, for example a swimmer with a birthday on November 7th 2000 would be entered in the 14yr old age group. The youngest age group will be 9 years and under. Please note the age restrictions on the 800m free and 400m free. We are not swimming the 1500m free or 400IM as formal events, however time trials for any interested swimmer will be arranged at a club session.

It is important to keep a record of events entered on your timetable sheet overleaf because on the day of the races it is difficult to deal with individual swimmers queries about races entered.

Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be awarded to both boys and girls in the following age groups 9yrs and under, 10yrs, 11yrs, 12yrs, 13yrs, 14yrs, 15yrs and 16yrs and over. A trophy will be awarded to the top boy and girl in each age group. Points will be awarded for each event completed :- 10 for 1st, 8 for 2nd, 6 for third then 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 down to eighth place. The winner will be the swimmer with most points subject to a minimum number of events. There will also be awards for the most improved swimmer in each event.

The closing date for entries is Friday 18th July. Please return the entry forms with payment to Richard Edwards, Kathryn Wragg or Hilary Marshall at a session, or by post (please e-mail for the address). Late entries will only be allowed if there is space available. Click below for entry form and schedule.

GOOD LUCK and don’t forget the closing date!
