A great weekend of swimming was had by Bristol Henleaze swimmers starting at Hutton Moor on Saturday. A large handful of junior swimmers descended on the Bristol North Open Meet and came away with 3 golds, County qualification times and a host of final medalists.

Sean Simmonds proved he is one for the future with a massive personal best and county qt in the boys 50m backstroke, where he took a fantastic gold medal (and a nice trophy to boot!) There was also gold and trophies for two of the girls relay teams: Anna Smith, Gwen Lightburn, Inez Borkowska and Lucy Wilkins took top spot in the 9 years 4x25m freestyle relay; and in the 11yrs medley relay event Eliza Barratt, Lucy Thornton, Francesca Gilpin and Lulu Watts achieved the same feat with a shiny gold medal apiece!! During the same session Sean was also a finalist in the 50m butterfly, as were Lucy Wilkins and Inez in the same event for the girls. A big PB for Martha Richards earned her a 6th place finish and county qt in the girls 50m backstroke - a great set of results for our 9 year olds!! There was further success during the day for Luca Gunawardena who won a silver medal in the 11yrs 50m freestyle and for Luke Taylor who secured a county qt and a final spot in the 50 breaststroke!

With only half of the competition gone (part 2 coming this Saturday) we will watch this space for further success!!!
