This gala was the held at Easton Leisure Centre and was the fourth of the Series of 5 galas, the final gala to be held on Saturday April 22nd. In the Series there are 20 clubs mainly from the Gloucester and Somerset area. These galas are the designed to give good club swimmers and inexperienced swimmers the chance of taking part in competition galas. At the end of first 4 rounds of the Series the total number of gala points gained by each club is calculated. The 5th round of the Series consists of three finals. The top 8 clubs swim in the A Final, the middle 6 clubs in the B Final and the bottom 6 clubs in the C Final. This was the toughest round we have had so far. The teams we were against for this gala were City of Bristol, Penguins and Cheddar. For the third year in the history of the Cotswold Series the only restrictions on who can swim were time limits. These time limits were placed on the swimmers in all the individual and relay team races. If swimmers go faster than the time limits set for that race they would score no points for their club.
In the gala our team had 17 PBs from individual swims. We had 6 first places, 4 in individual events and 2 in the relays. We had 6 second places, 5 in individual events and 1 in relays.
There were 4 individual wins they were:-
One for Alens Pasparne in the boys 11/U 25m Freestyle.
One for Eoin O’Halloran in the boys 11/U 25m Backstroke.
One for Scarlett Pearce-Lynch in the girls 13/U 50m Backstroke
One for Charlotte Cooper in the girls 15/U IM
There were two 1st places in the relays they were:-
Boys 11/U 4x1 Medley Relay Team of Eoin O’Halloran, Rory Morgan, Jonathan Butt and Harry Yeo
Boys 11/U 4x1 Freestyle Relay Team ofHarry Yeo, Eoin O’Halloran, Jonathan Butt and Alens Parparne.
The Draft results for the four teams in this gala were
City of Bristol 158 Points
Bristol Penguins 138 Points
Cheddar 124 Points
Bristol Henleaze 94 Points
We now move on to Final Round on Saturday 22nd April. The team selection and details will be sent out as soon as I know which final we will be in. I would like to thank the team that swam in this gala for giving of their best in this though round. A big thank-you to our helpers and officials from Bristol Henleaze.
